WITT Certified is the world’s first wellness award for hotels and resorts – and more than 100 have just been accredited.
Michelin stars have long been an indicator of culinary artistry across the world, and in 2024 the Michelin Guide launched Michelin Keys, a certification awarded to beautiful hotels and resorts offering unique stays and experiences across the globe – making it easier than ever for travellers to find and book fantastic hotels. Following this independent assessment of food and hotels, another organisation has stepped up to implement similar standards across the wellness sector: WITT Certified.

What is WITT Certified?
Wellness in Travel & Tourism is an independent industry organisation staffed by hospitality, wellness and travel professionals. It has just launched a new award that recognises hotels and resorts with exemplary health and wellness concepts. Designed to be an indicator of excellence for travellers and guests, properties holding a WITT Certified award have been rigorously examined via a 100-point evaluation process across five pillars: Healthy Eating, Holistic Healing, Nature, Movement and Local Impact. The awards will act as the wellness industry’s answer to the Michelin star and Michelin Key system and are valid for three years.

More than 100 properties across North America have already been awarded, including Four Seasons, The Ranch, Auberge Resorts, Montage, Ritz-Carlton, Golden Door and 1Hotels. WITT has also launched a website where wellness-seeking travellers can peruse a directory of certified properties. “Think of us as the ‘Michelin Guide’ for wellness travel,” said Robin Ruiz, WITT’s CEO and founder. From boutique hotels to global chains, properties that have achieved the WITT Certified seal can validate their commitment to authentic wellness experiences, enhance market differentiation, and elevate the overall quality and impact of their hospitality offerings.
