Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park – an underwater wonderland

Set in the Sulu Sea, Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park is a remote coral atoll system that has captivated divers with its extraordinary biodiversity. With over 600 species of fish, 360 species of coral, and sightings of majestic manta rays, sharks, dolphins, and even whales, it is a sanctuary of unparalleled marine life. The park, first declared a marine protected area in 1988 and inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993, remains a beacon of conservation, offering some of the best diving conditions in the world, with visibility often exceeding 30 metres. The sanctuary is home to 181 threatened species and is critical in global conservation efforts.

A commitment to conservation and education

Beyond its breathtaking scenery and unparalleled diving experiences, this expedition highlights Banwa Private Island and Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park’s shared dedication to environmental education. The Aquos Foundation recently partnered with Tubbatha Reefs Natural Park and World Heritage Site Management to engage young minds at an event for students from Tumarbong Elementary School. The event featured the introduction of the book “Mga Hero ng Planetang Blue,” which inspires young readers to become guardians of our planet.
