Tasting notes

The Glenfiddich Gran Reserva 21 is a Speyside whisky that elegantly marries tradition with a hint of Caribbean exoticism. Matured for 21 years in the heart of Scotland, this refined single malt is further enriched in select Caribbean rum casks chosen by Malt Master Brian Kinsman himself.

As noted by Glenfiddich’s Creative Collaboration Lead and Brand Ambassador, Ross Blainey, “The Gran Reserva is so iconic because it was a defining moment in whisky where the addition of carefully used rum barrels could add a beautiful delicate layer of sweetness, fruit and toffee to an already classic single malt”.

The result is a captivating assemblage of flavours that transports drinkers from the misty Highlands to sun-drenched Caribbean shores. On the nose, the whisky has a sumptuous palette of vanilla, sweet toffee, ripe fig and banana, intertwined with the subtle warmth of new leather and oak. The taste is an evolving experience from first sip to final swallow, beginning softly before developing into a brisk and vibrant bite with a long, warm, and spicy finish.. Each mouthful of this single malt whisky showcases the sharp snap of ginger and the sultry embrace of fig and is uplifted by energising hints of lime.

Enhance your immersion with a visit to Scotland’s most iconic whisky distillery.

Glenfiddich is one of Scotland’s most storied distilleries. Founded by William Grant and his nine children in 1886 to create the ‘finest dram in the valley’, it has been family owned and operated for more than 130 years. Drawing inspiration from its homeland, Glenfiddich interprets its locality through unique flavour profiles and builds its character upon Scottish roots. The name Glenfiddich, derived from the Scottish Gaelic Gleann Fhiodhaich, means ‘valley of the deer’ and is reflected in the stag logo. Home to award-winning single malt Scotch whiskies, Glenfiddich has built a reputation for excellence by using ancient techniques and adhering to strict quality standards – all passed down through generations of Grants.

Discover industry-leading craftsmanship

The first drop of whisky fell from the stills in 1887. Since then, Glenfiddich has gone on to become an industry leader. When the prohibition struck in the 1920s, the distillery amped up production, rather than winding it down as others did. In 1963, Glenfiddich single malt whisky became the first to be actively promoted outside of Scotland, and by 1991, the Glenfiddich Distillery in Scotland bottled one of the most rare and collectible whiskies in the world, a 50-year-old made from nine casks that was laid down in the 1930s – but the creative genius doesn’t end there. In 1998, the innovative distillery created the Solera Vat in order to develop more complex flavour profiles and when disaster struck in the winter of 2010 and snow fell through the roof of a whisky warehouse, an inventive malt master developed Snow Phoenix, a limited edition single malt whisky crafted from the rescued casks.
